The minecraft experience

We all have probably ever heard of Minecraft, this popular game was created in 2009 by Marcus Persson. It is based on a open-world concept also called sandbox in which you can move freely wherever you want.

The main elements that make up the game are blocks (which are grouped in the map as chunks), even the players are blocks, animals, plants, the water and even the clouds. There are not any other shapes in this game and that is what makes it more special and unique. You can actually do a lot of different thnigs in this game, from growing some crops, go to the mine and search for diamonds, kill a dragon or go for a ride on a horse. It give us endless possibilities.

Some people even create art pieces made by small blocks which is called pixel art, and you can see the actual picture once you are far from it and the boxes become so tiny that you can barely see them individually. Some of them include million blocks to came up with incredible designs and creations. This is possible because of the creative mode, which allow us to access to every single block in the game in order to create different elements, like houses, a farm or even a castle.

It also has a survival mode in which you can find monsters that hunt you at night, and that is why you have to create your own weapons and tools to evolve in the game, feed your animals, hunt and keep monsters away form your house.

This game also has an Educative version in which Geometry is one of the fields studied and children can also play didactic games in this platform while playing their favourite game. Here we can calculate the surface of different figures and even build our own figures using the blocks of the game. The way of playing is really intuitive which makes it a really good tool and a very versatile one to use in class with children from the 3ºcycle mostly.
